Abba is the most iconic band ever to come out of Sweden.
Since their split in 1982 the same question is always asked of the band members: will Abba reunite?
The answer is always no.
But when Expressen talks to Benny Andersson about his new solo album, "Piano", he suddenly gives an affirmative answer to the perennial question.
– We see each other from time to time, we have done some different things, and now we have a project ahead of us, Benny Andersson tells Expressen.
Digital Abba on tour
Abba's new project is a live tour where the band's classic hits will be performed by a live band, while digital avatars of the four Abba members will be seen on stage.
The tour is slated for 2019 – if, Benny Andersson cautions, the concept is deemed "sharp enough".
– It will take some time, it's time-consuming to digitalize a face, says the Abba co-founder.
– It's exciting that it's so technically advanced. It's going to be interesting.
Benny Andersson: "I will never escape Abba"
Benny Andersson's new solo album contains new, unplugged versions of Abba hits, including "Thank you for the music" and "Happy New Year".
He chose to revisit the tracks because they are so popular among fans, says Benny Andersson.
– I will never escape it, he says of his Abba fame.
– I don't mind it. It's a huge, very important part of my life, it's what enables me to sit here today. It enables me to do exactly what I want to do, instead of struggling to make rent, he says.
